Project Overview
Embarking on a mission to rejuvenate the Students’ Union UBC Okanagan brand, we faced the challenge of modernizing their identity. The existing logo and branding, though functional, fell short of capturing the vibrant spirit of the student body and seemed out of step with contemporary branding in the higher education sector.
The Solution
My approach was to forge a logo that strikes the perfect balance between timelessness and modernity—professional, yet far from stodgy, complementing the University of British Columbia's branding without blending into the background.
The colour scheme—a sophisticated blend of rich blues and beiges, accented with lively touches of turquoise and orange—injects a youthful vigour into the brand.
The introduction of a stylized speech bubble motif captures the essence of dialogue and interaction, embodying the union’s commitment to fostering a communicative and vibrant student community. This design element serves as a playful yet structured nod to the importance of voice within the university.
Impact
With its launch, the revamped SUO branding transformed the digital front door of the students’ union, marrying an improved user interface with a visual identity that breathes new life into the institution. This rebranding effort was not just a facelift but a renaissance, heralding a new era of engagement and representation for the students of UBC Okanagan.
